Hi Peeps…Well some more bits arrived like the K&N and a Lucas coil which i fitted, I bought some Renevo black as i wanted to see what the wedge would look like with a black hood instead of a blue one…

Looks better….But then noticed that a rip has appeared in the rear window...
I was going to get the hood replaced but not yet!…I have ordered some plastic window repair tape but for now its gaffa….

Still looks blue in them photo's

try this stuff for a slightly more professional temporary window repair.
Urgh...that's annoying zig...
I had a 205 CTI when I was at college (rock and roll!!) and this happened to me mid winter...the plastic goes really brittle.
If you put polish on it it helps soften it up. Do you use a towel when you fold the rear as that helps keep the curve and helps avoid this...

Your soft top looks quite good in the photos. Why not just have a rear window put in. I had a new rear window put in by a guy up Stevenage way on a TVR 290S, who has a fully kitted workshop in his garage. He did a superb job and if I remember correctly it cost around 180 to remove hood, change window and refit.

Ey up Zig, how do you think that product would do on a Dk brown roof,
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna keep it brown, but just wondered?

hi mark
my roof has the same split, same place (taking the hood down in the winter)
My hood is too old to bother with replacing the plastic so i keep patched up with a roll of clear tape from B and Q (great stuff and cheap)
Really though once it's split the plastic is knackered regardless of what you used to patch up.
I never have my roof up, so it's not noticed and folks think i am hard but it's cos i am tight
You can buy a new roof and do it yourself, something for me next year when i lay up the 400

Hi Tony…I did think about just getting a new window put in but the stitching along the bottom of the hood has rotted and there is some damage on the targa panel so a new roof would be in order…Might have to take a trip over to romford….Cheers…ZigaTony. TCB.

Nice job done by "Shaw Windridge the hood guys" located in kings heath south Birmingham. Recommended. nice setup, family run business.
Not sure if I should put the price on here but it's not frightening... PM if your interested.
Been using some ointment or another on mine to keep it supple. The rear window you dirty minded so and so's...... wonder if it will work elsewhere.....
Not really sure it works but the car lives in the garage so no real issues with UV when not in use, I would assume it is good for UV anyway?

I think it was down to the fact that i never used a rolled up towel, When i purchased the car and put the hood down for the first time it left a milky 3" line in the plastic all the way across…Im just surprised that it has cracked like that as there were no fractures or splits visible..Plus it wasn't that cold yesterday, Maybe the plastic was brittle anyway…Just a bit of a pi55er as it didn't leak prior to that…Ziga
