"Of the top 10 postcodes in the country ranked by concentration of suspected cash for crash claimants, three were in Bradford, six in Birmingham and one in Bolton."

Quite ironic when they have some of the highest rates of uninsured vehicles in the UK as well.

All they need now is a way to turn off these postcodes when doing car searches on Autotrader and PH etc biggrin

Risky to go there to look at the car, even more risky to buy a car that has lived in such a dangerous 'car' environment wink

It's odd how it seems so prevalent in both Bradford and Birmingham, almost like there's some kind of link between these places we're missing?

And that's why it continues. Nobody dare talk about it openly, let alone tackle it head on.

Some one tried to do it to me at a set of lights in Birmingham a few years ago, I was in a defender at the time but I just managed to stop the thing in time, He seemed pretty keen on getting my details even though I didn't touch him. I took loads of photos as it felt dodgy as hell. A few months later he a claim arrives, I told my insurance company what had happened, showed them the photo of the back of his car in mint condition, he sent one back that the guy had sent with it smashed to bits.

So its pretty obviously a fraud to everyone involved, but they still offered him a payout but he rejected it for more, thankfully the insurance company saw the light and stop talking to his solicitors. The insurance company said the only way he would ever go to jail is if HE took it to court and the judge wanted to prosecute him.

My mrs had the same in Bradford, was cheaper for the insurance company to pay out than fight the claim, I went mad cause it doesn't help my no claims.

I just feel like its the sort term easiest solution the insurance company's to take, and now we are paying the price with loads of scammers seeing it as free money.

Insurers are paying out without even requiring medicals in some cases.......this fuels this fraud and makes it even easier for the fraudsters to cash in

I live in braford and insurance premiums are massive.......if you are lucky to get quoted at all

Its high time this scam was cracked down on hard....proper deterrent jail sentences and confiscation of ill gotten gains is the only way

I think that a lifetime driving ban should be added to the above.

Based on other media investigations you'll probably find that many of those driving passed their test by proxy thanks to one person who makes money doing driving tests for others - the jail and confiscation thing could work.

As an aside the areas where this tends to be the biggest issue also seem to have the highest number of "have you been hurt in an accident" adverts and offices.
