Sounds like a good initiative. Especially for those who used to race with SEMSEC. Hope it works out!

Isn't the CSCC Mag7 series doing this job pretty well and welcomes all 7 type cars, think they are going to 2 grids next year to increase capacity

it just looks like the standard thing to me of introducing a new series because one person doesn't like the other 2 then none having particularly good grids.
There are loads of series currently running for 7 type cars to race in and they get good grids. We know there are lots of cars but i really can't see the need for yet another series doing the same thing.

Ian,

There are quite a few around including North West Sports Saloons, Northern Sports Saloons, Scottish Sports Saloons and Welsh Saloons
I realise that the demise of SEMSEC championship does leave a gap in the South East

There are various sports and saloon series that have classes for 7 type cars but making series for the higher powered cars is questionable. How many CSRs etc. are there left out there that are race cars, that are not already racing. Pretty much every CSR race car left in the country has raced at some point in Mag7s this year

Castle combe Gts would also welcome high powered caterhams. However, I believe that many have been converted to road use (must be more valuable)..

As I said, with exception of Mag 7's none of the others are Seven only.
This is not based upon one person fed up with a series, it is about prospective Seven only races which the BARC are interested in running, there is a market there. I don't understand why my initial post got deleted?

I would be interested. Mags is good in many ways but, in most races I did, it was like a test session after the pit stops. Would much prefer two shorter races, preferably on the same day

For anyone interested in these one off races, you need to join the BARC SE which is £50.00.

Because no championship has been registered with the MSA for 2014, these "one off" races will not be publicised in a calendar format. However, they intend to publicise each event individually prior to each meeting, so keep an eye out on the BARC website. Also it does appear that most of these races will be held on the BARC HQ race days, which is exciting news.

Basic regulations as I understand them.
1. Dry tyres list 1a or 1b. (no slicks)
2. Wet tyres are free.
3. Gearbox is free. However, paddle shift in conjunction with sequential, entrant must move up a class.
4. Aero devices permitted as long as they meet MSA road going class guidelines.
5. Brake lights mandatory.
6. Car does NOT have to be able to pass an MOT.
7. Forced induction is permitted.
8. Classes determined by Power to weight. Note, weight means car with driver and approximately 5 litres of fuel. Cars would be weighed at some point. Power at flywheel may need clarification by form of dyno or rolling road graph.

Classes
Class 1. up to 255bhp per tonne
Class 2. 256 to 325
Class 3. 326 to 385
Class 4. 385 to 435
Class 5. 436 upwards

Ballast is not allowed. These races are fun so the above structures are meant as a guide, so initially driver honesty is to be relied upon.

Each race meeting we would be offered 2 no. 15/20 minute races plus the normal 15/20 minute practice/qualifying session, starts could be standing or rolling, although to date the general consensus seems to be standing.

Dates below are still provisional.
April 5 Rockingham
June 21 Lydden Hill
July 26 or 27 Brands Hatch
August 25 Donington
September 20 Thruxton

Cost for each event should be between £230.00 - £300.00

Is this just Sevens or is it open to front-engined Kitcars? The info on the site says Tiger, Caterham or Westfield. You'll appreciate there are many other manufactures including ones with enclosed bodywork like Furys, Phoenix, Stylus and so on.

Interesting question Jeff. How many Fury's, Stylus and Phoenix etc. out there racing? I gather most with bike engines are doing the RGB in the 750MC?

That certainly used to be the case but in recent years the rise of the Mid-engine RGB car has put an end to that. Grids are full of Spires, AB Sabres and so on.

I have a Fury with 2 litre XE and am planning to race it in 750 MC Sport Specials in 2014 but these one off races would appeal to me too. I will send you an email directly for further info, cheers

Not true I'm afraid. The RGB grid is split roughly 50/50 between front engined (eg fury/phoenix/MNR) cars and the mid engined cars you mention, each with its own class and points. While the mid engined cars tend to be at the front, there is a very healthy competition in the mid pack with the front engined cars battling it out. Grid are healthy with 28+ per meeting last year.
