Anyone used medlars if so what did you do/make with them?

Make relish / jelly to accompany cheese. They're far too tannic to be used for anything else.

Incidentally, in French medlars are called 'cul de chien' (dog's arse). Look at the fruit and tell me it isn't so.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall did a piece on these and made jelly and a chutney I believe. Probably on Channel 4 catchup somewhere.
