Hi all, put this in News too, sorry for the repost - a US forum has images of the 2015 'Global' Mustang - the one we'll be able to buy (apparently).

No V8 coming to the UK, only a V6. Shame

Don't know when it's going to be available over here, but the article the images are on claims 200lb weight saving - 90 kg. That'd put the V6 model at 1500 kg, V8 at 1550. That, with a carried over 420bhp NA V8, manual gear box, and now independent rear suspension, sounds like the sort of machine I saw people moaning the F-Type wasn't on another thread earlier...

I read that we'll get a 2.3 Ecoboost version as well?

It'll be interesting to see what price they are new considering how cheap they are over in the US, admittedly that's the old cars pricing. However being "global" should reduce the manufacturing costs too?

Autocar have picked up the story, they reckon it's a 2L I4...

They also give a different weight reduction than the US mag, so not sure how accurate it is. I know the 2.0L has already been reengineered for longitudinal installation by JLR for the XF, but a 2.3 would be clean sheet anyway, and probably not much different on the outside, so should be doable. Don't think there's much more to get out of the 2.0L than maybe 270bhp, the V6 in the current model in the States is about 300, so that sounds like a 2.0L would be enough currently.

Sorry for the garbling, I should probably go to bed...

Is this out in 2015, or is this out in 2014?

All this 'MY14/15' talk is crap.

If it was released in the 2014 calendar year it is a 2014 car.

Yes, I like that, although it still looks a bit chunky for my taste. We'll see how it turns out to drive - looking forward to learning more.

I doubt the importers will bring in the v6 /ecoboost unless they are a lot cheaper
Ford Europe might if they are going for lower price hi volume sales to compete with
The German brands, but hopefully it will stay as a enthusiast's weekend car and not end up a watered down RHD bland mobile ...
