Hello,

I have a quick question I hope you can help with. My brother is going to buy a PS4 from an American Army base whilst he’s on deployment in the Middle East. They have various electronic shops there and they’re a fair bit cheaper than in the UK. Plus he wants to play it on his ship while he’s at sea.

I understand they’re not region locked for games, but will be for films. So, if he buys a PS4 from an American shop, will it be region locked to the American market out of the box, or will it region lock when you first set it up? In other words, can he select it to lock to the UK on setup?

Also, as he’ll be using it when he’s away at sea, any recommendations for racing games that don’t require an online connection?

Cheers,

Dan

Anyone know the answer to this?

I'm off to a Yank airbase in Germany tomorrow and the thought of picking up a ps4 had crossed my mind

Also, would there be any problems with an American XB1?

Thanks for your effort, but it's not quite what I'm after. I want to know if the PS4 locks to a region when you select your country, or when it's registered, or if they're locked by the factory when they're made, when they're designated to a particular country.

Yours being a UK unit, activated in the UK, doesn't answer my question either way.

Thanks anyway.
