I'm in London tonight - what to shoot?

I'm in London tonight and it looks like I've been stood up by a couple of mates - Thankfully I bothered to bring my camera with me and it looks like a dry evening which is a bonus.

I've done Trafalgar Square to death (where I normally go for beer and burritos) and down past the Thames. I'm staying in Vauxhall and tend to walk down the Thames, over Westminster bridge, past the Cenotaph and in to Trafalgar square (usually for beer at The Harp). I usually walk back - or Tube it depending on how lazy I am...

I'm after some suggestions on where to go for sites to shoot at - I'm not too bothered about Leicester Square though...

Why not walk along the south bank of the Thames, towards the City and take views of the other side.... then stitch it all together to make a long panorama.... that would look good I reckon.

Not a bad idea - I only have a D3100 and only brought the 18-70 with me so that might be an option...

Any other suggestions?

I did exactly this last night (walk about in London - first time of messing about with my new camera!)
Started on embankment, walked up to parliment square and back, and then across hungerford bridge (I think it's called - next to charring cross) and strolled around the south bank for an hour or so! - was annoyed they've closed the skate area as would have liked to get some shots there, but still loads to keep you amused!

I'm glad I'm in the City and he's not referring to anyone that far east!

Modern v Old is a good and easy theme:



Bridges like the wobbly'un or Hungerford.

Number 15 buses - some of them are the traditional Routemasters - they go down The Strand into Trafalgar or from Aldwych (Royal Courts in the background; or the Waldorf et cetera)

I worked in all three of those places and I hope I don't fit into any of the three categories... but I sure as hell saw a lot of 'em.

Ever tried the quiet cobbled streets of Mayfair? Some lovely roads to shoot there. Im not a photographer but the cars on such roads always look good

The Christmas market is set up on the South Bank and would make for some good pictures. I'm pretty sure the ice skating will be set up as Somerset House by now too if that's of interest.

Come out of Temple tube station, face towards the Thames, then turn right and walk about 200 yards.

Misread the topic completely. Thought you were looking for targets to shoot in London, and there are a lot of those!

Not something to shoot, but if you fancy having a 'night off' you could check out the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History museum. Not been but I'm planning to at some point.

There are skateists at the Natural History Museum too! I keep meaning to go to the Wildlife exhibition but I never quite make it for one reason or another!
