Hi Guys,

I'm fed up wioth my cheap squeely belt, and am looking to go for a fairly good quality belt - Gates or Dayco etc.

Unfortunately, the price of the (unbranded) belt from Racing Green / Clever Trev etc is about £12, plus about £9 postage.

Any ideas on the part number / size of belt for a non-aircon serp Chimaera? That way I can check out a local motor factors, or look online etc.

Also, I'm guessing I won't see much change out of £30 for a decent branded belt inc postage?

Cheers,

Malc

I am at work but from memory it was QBR 71850, my local motor factors had them in stock, 7 is the number of ribs and 1850 the length, thats none aircon.

Thanks a lot!

Found this also...

Good guess!

So if anyone else is looking:

7PK 1850 (7 rib 1850mm length).
QUINTON HAZELL is part number: QBR71850

It looks like Gates do a 7PK 1855 or 1835.
Judging by the movement in the tensioner, and the distance to the exhaust manifold, if I went 1855 it might be right at the end of its limit? Also be quite close to the heat from the manifold.

The 1835 looks like it might be a better choice. I'll order one up, and let you know how it goes. Hopefully the quality will be better - I have heard good things about Gates belts in the past (i.e. no squeeling!).

I believe you are allowed a few mm either way as the tensioner will adjust acordingly.

Mine is an 1855mm belt IIRC. Works fine
