This thread should probably be in classic instead but does anybody know the major differences between the Triumph acclaim/Honda Ballade and the Honda prelude above?
Looks to be the same chassis bar a few exterior cosmetic changes.

Seem to remember a few interior cosmetic changes. Also there was a Triumph/BL engine and a Honda engine choice - may have been a Honda 1.3 and a BL 1.6 for the mk1 and a K series 1.3 and a Honda 1.6 for the mk2.

The Acclaim/Ballade was a four door Civic-based saloon with a 1.3 engine. The Prelude was a 2door Coupe based on the larger Accord platform with a 1.6 engine that grew to 2.2 with each model change. This generation had similar front ends but were quite different cars.

I had a metallic Green Triumph Acclaim L 1.3 litre I think - very like (based on) the Honda Ballade, nippy up to 30, but gutless thereafter. Would make a great sleeper with a powerful engine. I think a few had a turbo tacked on, probably gave respectable performance in the day. They rusted whilst you watched them.

Thanks for the info guys.
The prelude seems like the better classic but they seem a bit rare, found a couple acclaims for cheap and currently wondering about using one as a project.

Check for rust and filler everywhere! Particularly bad lower front panel under bumper, but structural cross member behind rusted completely through within a couple of years of age, especially at the corners.
