I don't know if this has become more apparent since I've been driving a van everyday but there seems to be a growing trend of tts either squeezing past in the car or walking behind reversing vehicles.
It's happened to me countless times over the last few months but I have also seen it happen to others.
Again, tonight slowly edging out of a space keep checking both mirrors and nearly half way out when some silly fking bint in a Peugeot decides now is the ideal time to drive behind me.

What's wrong with folk?

You get this in an HGV too, even with an open back door and twenty tonnes or super-hot coated stone dribbling out.

Its as though nature is trying to cleanse itself...

Happens to us all the time. The entrance to our work garage is on a gentle bend that sees light traffic. The only sensible way in and out is to reverse in and drive out forwards. The number of times I have been reversing in (hazard lights on and reversing lights showing) only to have a car try to squeeze past me in the face of opposing traffic is unbelievable. It takes just 3-5 seconds for me to reverse in - what is wrong with simply waiting until I clear the road.

The other night I was reversing out of a space and some dozy bint just steps right out behind my car and then shouts at me. Can you not see the car moving? Can you not see the reversing light is on? FFS I wish stupid people would stop breeding, the human race might stand a chance then.

Ive always had that, first thing my dad taught me about motoring in built up places is 'watch out for assholes not looking'.

It seems to be common with everyone, young'uns with headphones to little old ladies.

I work with boats, so I often reverse trucks with trailers and boats through car parks and onto slipways, it's amazing the amount of people that walk behind you when reversing! They must have a death wish, what if I'd slipped off the clutch and mowed them down!

You know, it is something I've noticed recently too. Stupid idiots that don't have 5 seconds of patience.
The film Idiocracy is unfortunately becoming more true every day. If you haven't watched it, I recommend it.
I had a stupid woman in a Peugeot or something try and squeeze past me when I was reversing out of a space to straighten up and head in again. I inhaled sharply when she almost hit the back of my car! No need for it. I beeped the horn, and she paused when she was past me, then drove off.

I despair driving around these days!

Biggest pain in the arse when driving a van and I feel sorry for HGV drivers that need to put up with these fking clowns.

Where I used to work there was a Walkers Crisps luton van delivering to the news agent opposite. The driver was reversing into the alley by the shop when an old dear tried to dodge behind him. He didn't see her and knocked her over. She ended up with a huge gash down her arm and the driver was shaken up too. She did admit she'd been silly though.

I completely agree. Same thing when reversing out of a space in the car park at Asda. They will quite happily drive past, completely unknowing if you've seen them or not. Total impatience.

Some people just have no idea - but then I'd never driven a van until about 5 years ago when one of the kids went to uni and it really opened my eyes as to how much of a blind spot you get. Always treat them with a lot more respect now.

I used to get people mounting the pavement to drive round the back of me whilst I was reversing my van onto my drive on a main road through a housing estate. They usually are the ones who will call you a wker after doing so too. I don't hang round reversing as I am aware of if there are pedestrians behind me for a short time after I check as stopping but cars doing 30-40 half on the pavement, they come out of nowhere.

fking scary when you have parking sensors and the first tone you get is the solid "STOOOOOP"

Definitely noticed more of it now than a decade ago...

yes

most people have no idea how big the blindspots can be on a big van, bus, truck etc.

i don't get wound up these days, but it still never ceases to amaze me when i'm reversing the wagon across a main road into a yard etc how many people will just keep coming, drive up the pavement to get round you, etc.

From the other side, I see fewer and fewer people looking around and over their shoulder before reversing. Most seem to rely on mirrors or sensors which is really asking for trouble as you're unlikely to see some of these nutter pedestrians before you start moving.

I wouldnt want to reverse a large vehicle using mirrors alone! How people used to get by with just a pair of mirrors I dont know.

Drive an artic and you have no choice, its a pair of mirrors always has been always will be. Reversing to the left is the worst where the trailer will block the view but judging it just comes with experience..

Not much point in looking at the screwdrivers, saws and hammers in the back of my van. No real choice but the use the mirrors. There's no reversing sensors either. I've considered fitting a reversing camera, I think a lot of the HGV boys use them.

Fully agree about the Idiocracy comments. We're all doomed!
