Great car.

Look out: cooks oil and screws the engine. Don't flog it on turbo towards the end of a run and change the oil more than suggested. There is a larger capacity oil filter you can fit too.

Thanks for the tips. Would change oil and filter any way asap, regardless of history.

Make sure its had a cambelt and waterpump at least once, in theory should have been done twice by now but unlikely. 1.8t weak points are coilpacks and clogged oil strainer in the sump which can be fatal.

The history shows belt and water pump done by audi at 60k. Ive just read about oil pick up failures due to blockage. Short of taking the sump off I guess all I can do is see proof of regular oil changes and keep this up using good quality oil?

If your buying an eleven year old car budget to pop the sump off and check it regardless, its a new engine/turbo otherwise..

Think you may be right, if I don't and it pops I will kick myself, thanks for the tip.

I looked for one for ages around 18 months ago, good ones that weren't silly money were hard to find. I think the early ones were around 150 bhp which feels a bit under powered but a remap can sort that out.
