Bit of talk little while back about stainless or alluminium replacement tanks, if anyone has their old (no matter how rotten/full of crud etc.) tank going spare I'd like one for a little "development work" wink

Noticed the rubber pipe from the tank outlet was leaking last Saturday, can't be more than 3 years old, but when I got it off (luckily tank wasn't too full) looked more like it was 30 years old! Not that close to the exhaust but maybe the heat gets at it?

Anyway.......I have a plan smile

Well, mine isn't scrap, but it's out of the car being painted and not going back in until February so you could either borrow it or I could get it measured up in detail if you like.

Let me know...

Cheers
Ant

Thanks for the offer Ant but I want to do a bit more than just measure it wink

Been offered one, just a case of nipping down to Essex to pick it up.

Hi Mike, when are you planning to "nip down" to Essex & whereabouts in Essex is it??
I'm intending to pop down tomorrow ( Monday ) to attend an Uncle's funeral on Tuesday. Return date uncertain as yet.
I could pick it up for you, but I don't think there's enough room in Austin, & I'm not sure the old off-road Mondeo's driveshaft would last the distance. frown

What is your cunning plan?
Remove passenger seat & fit extra tank for long range continental cruising?
LPG conversion?
Draught beer supply?

We await developments ...... wink

Hi Glen, I've been offered a tank by Tony, TonupS2, not got full address yet but I quote " I live in Essex near the Dartford Tunnel (M25) east of London".

I will probably be visiting family in Hemel Hempstead over Christmas so that would get me more than half way there?

If you were able to collect for me I guess I'd have to "nip up" to Cheshire to collect?

No, I was thinking I could leave it on the hard shoulder nr J4 of the M6 westbound so you could pick it up at your leisure. wink
Or meet up somewhere.
But Dartford is the far end of Essex from where I'm going & it'd be a struggle to fit a tank into Austin; so I suppose it's academic really.

But Barry has found a nice north Essex sunday morning breakfast meeting place. yum

biggrin Be afraid Barry, be very afraid.....Mwahahahaha!

Do you think if we sawed the tank in half it would fit in both our S's so we could each bring a section to the next breakfast meet? Just a thought.
Could we pat it down flat?
Or do you think Simon should go & pick it up in his capacious Splitty?

Mike

I live in Kent and travel to Hertfordshire on a regular basis. Happy to pick the tank up and drop it in Hemel if that is any good for you.

Cheers
Paul

Something was rattling around in the tank but I didn't have time to check it out. If its that gold sovereign I lost, you have my address. Hope its useful and let us know how your project goes. Good Luck
