Shipping beer to the U.S

Currently in a bit of a dilemma. I have a couple of very special edition Fullers beer I want to send to my brother, only trouble is I'm not sure I can. As far as I can see, you cannot post via the USPS as this is illegal, however it seems from doing a little research, lots of people have sucessfully sent beer. However being a sceptical sod and not believing everything I read, I would rather here from someone who has actually gone through the process.
So has anyone sucessfully sent beer? If so how did you do it.

I've shipped bottles of booze in more times than I can remember via UPS. In fact I have some in transit as I write this, and more going over next week.
No different to shipping anything else. There is a chance the recipient will get felt up for duty & excise but if it's just a couple of bottles you should be fine.

Is it wrong for me to be totally bewildered at sending stuff. A quick look on the UPS or DHL website and I'm like.......say what. Their websites don't seem very friendly to the novice sender.I really haven't a fecking clue

I know a few wine geeks in the US who reuse wine cases to ship olive oil (albeit within the US).Nothing at all to do with some shippers in US refusing to carry wine between private individuals.
Didn't have time to have a dig around, this is a US based site so you might be able to get/find some good advice;
