Ive decided to sell my Boxster S which ive had for a couple of years and go back to a 911. Ive decided 993 over 996.I know i should buy on condition, but i cant help that fact i want one in Yellow. Youre thoughts please. Am i sufferring from a lack of taste ? Do others like Yellow ? Is it just too in youre face ? Does any body know of one for sale ?

The only colour to have - I've had 968, 993 & 996 in Speed Yellow, and love it. For gawds sake don't consider that lukewarm pastel yellow though!

I had speed yellow Boxster S and now have speed yellow GT3.

Must say, it's probably my favorite Porsche colour, however, i do think certain colours only suit certain cars. And believe that this was the case for my old Boxster and now my GT3 because of the type of car they are.

However, i also think the colour can be a BIG mistake on other models, i.e yellow does not do justice to a 996 turbo IMHO, and think same as to 993 Carrera, but oddly enough, think 993 Carrera RS looks the dogs !!

Weird bu just my £0.02

IMHO Speed Yellow is a great colour for a Porsche, but you either love it or hate it, there is no middle ground on this one. I allways wanted a SY 993 after I saw those early press pictures way back in 1993. I even like the Carrera GT in SY...

Many people say that the more specialist models (968 CS and 993 RS/RSR) look the best in SY and the basic 993 C2/C4 look a bit thin, but I dont agree.

But buy on colour AND condition though!

Good luck

Really!!? was it parked anywhere near Martyns Turbo?

There was a concourse 993 in speed yellow for sale last year, for low to mid £30k's, not sure if it sold, may be worth checking with PCGB register.

One of those 'opinion' colours. I think it depends on the car:

And these are only my opinions:
Integrale Evo II - Yellow - Yes
Ferrari 355 - Yellow - No
993 (hides) - No, but I can see where you are coming from.
My old spider - Yes
Those rover 25 things - No way!

Odd that a colour can do this.

I should of made it clear that i was of course thinking about speed yellow. The seed was planted back in 1998 when before i purchased my 3.2 i bought a copy of Peter Morgans book, which has a yellow 993 on the front cover.

Not that i am biased but there are two different luke warm yellows. Pastel (see my profile) and the luke warm yellow which Boxsters and 996 sometimes come in.
I personally think my car looks fantastic but I would be interested to hear if any one thought it didnt as I always seem to get a lot of comments when I fill up.

Colour is also a lot to do with the car !!
