Is there a case for having a dedicated sticky thread for people who want to post Daily Mail links? Kind of like the Youtube thread?

I can't be alone in being annoyed each time I click on a thread with a potentially interesting title, only to be presented with a link to some gibberish article from the Daily Mail (other crap newspapers are available).

I'd certainly vote for that.

Youtube links usually only generate a couple of replies, "That's ace!", "Fake" etc whereas DM links usually start a whole thread of comments and it often turns into an interesting discussion, once you get past the crap DM headlines.

If we had a DM thread it would just get swamped and messy imo.

You're probably right.

Can we just ban them?

Should have a 'two sources' rule, where you need links to at least two sources of a story. At least then there'd be an alternative view and show the OP has an interest in the story, not just copying and pasting links from one site as they see them.

If I report posts I see with DM links and no effort to; dissect, interpret or comment on the story, will this be frowned upon by moderators as a waste of their time?

Sometimes i think people just like to moan about the Daily Mail as its the cool thing to do at the moment. Just get over yourself.

You think it's cool to moan about the Daily Mail? I'm not so sure.

Anyway, I don't moan about the Daily Mail. I get fed up with people posting links to it though.

I also feel a degree of pity for people who read it and believe that its content represents fact.

I just operate (and have done for some time) a policy that I will not open a link to the Daily Mail. It's extending my life...
