For anyone interested, the music is by Emika. It's called "Dem Worlds" and is from the Album "DVA".

The whole video is terrific, but the shot of it doing a little jump and thundering into the distance at 1:20 is glorious...

Obviously Mclaren intend to keep its powder dry until Ferrari announces theirs with TheFerrari. And they won't. It's a marketing smoke and mirrors. Nice vid though.

Slower than the 918. They'd be making all manner of noise if the P1 was faster. But it doesn't matter, it's a fantastic car.

Reminds me of 'Layer Cake' the film for some reason? Probably the voice over / music combo

Porsche announced the 918 time because everyone had written them off and considered them the underdog

McLaren need to be the best and keep trying to beat the 918s time

I suspect Ferrari doesn't give a toss and know someone will pound it round the Nordeschleife for them anyway

None of it matters really, obviously, but I quite like seeing the marketing departments trying to outdo each other. These cars don't need to be marketed at all.

Ferrari have already had the LaFerrari round the nordschleife.

McLaren have said privately that they don't want to start a competition over this.

I'd like Hiromu Naruse to be the last development driver to die there. I want that more than I want to know the P1's time.

That is so hypocritical. Why don't McLaren build trucks or some family hatchbacks then. They want to build the fastest car. So why suddenly the safety BS.

He died on a public road because he drove down the wrong side of the road and had a head on with a car coming the other way. Not on the 'ring itself.

As above, if McLaren had a genuine sub7 time they'd be trumpeting from the rooftops. As they aren't it makes more PR sense (to them anyway) to say "we don't do that stuff" When clearly that P1 is not just pottering round. Rumours persist about the cars ability to fully recharge it's "kers" system in 1 lap

Very strange that they won't release a time, not buying the safety angle as these are big boys and what they do is up to them, no one forces them to do it.

My take is, the time is in and around the same as the 918 but not crushingly faster therefore they can't crow about it.

A moot point anyway, haven't they sold them all?
