Chain tool required - Trek 1.5 (10 speed cassette)

Folks, please excuse my ignorance.

The chain on my road bike snapped today (not had the bike long, not happened before)- what sort of chain tool do I need? Bike is a 2013 Trek 1.5 with a 10 speed cassette. Just had a look on eBay, some are saying not suitable for a 10 or 11 speed cassette (I presume because the chain in thinner?).

If someone could post up a link to a cheap chain tool that will do the job, it would be much appropriated!

Will have everything you need but practise using the chain splitter in the comfort of your own home before you need to use it in the road side! You will also benefit from some quick links too as you can't use the broken links to repair the chain,

HAve a look on chainreaction or probikekit for any 10 speed chain to replace it with. Very cheap 105/ultegra chains at the moment.

If you use the speed links like SRAM buy a pair of link pliers as the links are nearly impossible to split on the side of the road.

There's a good reason the Ultegra ones are cheap...

Sorry but I'll only use SRAM chains after having a few shimano chains fail on me. My last SRAM chain was sstretched well beyond its limits and still kept going.

I discovered (after treating the chain to a clean while of the bike) that the chain is a KMC item. The quick release link is really easy to use
