Pre Purchase Inspection

Any recomendations on who would be able to carry out a detailed inspection of a 997 GT3 Porsche in Yorkshire area.
Have contacted Peter Morgan but he does not cover as far North.

Don't know anyone that will travel, but most if not all the indies do inspections. Try RPM Knaresborough, Strasse, Porsche Tek or Specialist Cars of Malton.

If they won't travel they may know someone who will.

OP, if you'll be having it looked after outside the OPC network I'd suggest asking whoever you will be using. There may be a greater motivation for them to leave their workshop if it could bring in more business besides their inspection fee.

You really need an outfit who know GT3's well, both from a Mechanical and structural perspective. I live in Yorkshire and take mine to Mike @ Sports and Classic for servicing/suspension set up etc.

I don't believe Peter Morgan is experienced enough with GT3's and you are much better having the car inspected on a ramp. SOM or S&C would be my choice if the seller is willing to take the car to either of them. If not, then OPC Leeds or Strasse.

My colleague Bob has owned 3 GT3s I think, now runs a 997 GT3RS and completely rebuilt a 996 version. I've been tracking (and racing) Porsches since the mid-1980s and know most of the tricks the tuners and fixers get up to (although we're always learning). Nevertheless, Bob is our faster 911 expert.
We probably see more GTs, RSs and other faster Porsches than the typical indy service shop in any one year and pride ourselves with our faster Porsche experience. We're not a Parr or a Tech9, but we have been checking these models out for rather longer than some of us would like to admit.

Is this a "belief" or "fact", BlackGT3, based on direct personal experience? I find as I see, and speak from first hand experience that Peter Morgan is more than capable of inspecting and doing a thorough report on modern stuff, including GT3s...he did a very thorough pre-inspection report on a nearly new 997.2 GT3 in 2010 that confirmed it hadn't been crashed/bent, over-revved or received paint. Obviously it covered more than that, but those were my primary concerns buying privately with cash on what was a rare car at the time.

Peter Morgan knows his pork...and his inspections are very good value for the time spent inspecting and creating the report.
