Thinking of joining the police but how long does it take?

As stated I'm looking at joining the police but am not current with how long it takes these days?

I'm in the Shropshire area and possibly looking at Cheshire police force as you can't join your own area I hear but not sure yet.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated from the PH massive.

Not many Forces are recruiting, and competition is fierce. My sister has a law degree, a masters in police leadership, is a karate black belt, and had been a special during most of her student life. It still look her about 2-3 years to get accepted. Shes now a full time PC.

She had almost given up trying and had started down a new career path when she finally got her place.

Have you considered the MOD Police or the CNC? It appears both are recruiting at the moment.

I applied for the CNC way back in April 2011, and join January 6th FWIW.
