Sad to know these lovely machines are kept in this state.

Prince Jefri, every time I have read about him seems like a bit of a pillock.
I dont see the point of any one person having loads of cars, unless its investment, other than that you cant really get that much out of them, you tend to find people that have massive collections go everywhere in a Range Rover anyway. I suppose they buy cars like we buy a CD or book.

Yes, it is a waste, I agree.
However, the money to buy those very expensive cars kept many, many Europeans in jobs and the associated companies funded.
So, would we have been better if those cars had not been purchased? I am sure the population of Brunei would have been. But us in the UK? I am really very unsure which would have been a better outcome.
The spy pictures seem a little like going round central Detroit. Heart breaking in one way, but in another you know that they cannot be saved and their gradual return the the earth is inevitable.

I find it upsetting, disgusting, criminal even.
Yes the money spent here has no doubt benefited European workers, but the same or better could have been achieved using that money for inward investment, improving the lives of the general population of Brunei who in turn could have spent the money themselves buying European products.
This would have had the benefit of being an ongoing, sustainable spend.
The exotics represent one big spend with no opportunity for further spend
Another viewpoint could be its a more honest transparent way of wasting money compared to some of the things our governments have done over the years!

A very interesting story, but as sad as the demise of these cars is, a lot of money was spent there to the benefit of the automotive industry. Once the prince has paid for it, he can do what he likes with it!
#It's true, there probably wouldn't be an Aston Martin without him

3 mclaran F1s!!!!He must have been ordering cars just for fun of it.
Kind of makes you sick to see that waste.
That's precisely what he did. He spent money as if there was no end to it, because it seemed that there wasn't. To just buy these cars, hardly drive them (if ever) and leave them to rot shows how empty the man's soul is.Kind of makes you sick to see that waste.

Brunei has very high living standards with no homlessness and free education and healthcare for all IIRC.The money that Jefri has spunked on motors is absolutely nothing compared to their revenues from Oil.
I understand your point - but this isn't a despotic regime where the local population are going without while the ruling class wastes it's money on luxury items.

Pininfarina and Bentley also. There's a great thread on supercars.net where some chap has tried to catalogue the collection. Pretty fascinating stuff, I also recall reading a thread on another forum where engineers who had worked at the compound were chiming in. I'll try to dig up some links
