Think my old Bradbury has about had it (must be 40 years old), it's piddling oil out everywhere.

So, for home use only these days, I was thinking of a Lift Master 3 ton. Don't need the three ton bit but does give a decent lift height of 508mm instead of the 440 - 460 that the 2.5 ton models do.

Any "don't do" it type horror stories or other suggestions before I part with my hard earnt?

I rebuilt my bradbury a few months back, cost me £15 for a seal kit, only the 2nd times it's been done in 50 years, no modern jack will be about to rebuild in 25 years ! rebuild the old thing wink

I bought a Sealey 1050CXLE a few months ago. I think it needs bled to get it working properly. Anyone know what the procedure is?

The Liftmaster is nice bit of kit. All ally, nicely light and low. Had one for 3 months now after my old Clarke 2t pro died after 20 years. The Clarke had managed to pick up on the piston/barrel at the bottom so was leaking internally. Apparently quite common on all trolley jacks and it is built in dirt that get's picked up. So vote for the Liftmaster.

Mike - I have a couple of the smaller versions . Mine are Arcan branded and came from Costco but look like they came from the same factory.

Very happy with them and highly rated for lifting TVRs.

A Bradbury should be worth repairing, find a hydraulic repairer in your area, speak to him they keep all sorts of seals etc. A modern chinese jack are consumable items.

How much was your Costo Arcan jack? My dirt cheap £5 Wickes trolley jack is long overdue for replacement. Looking for a decent lift height, the Wickes one barely gets above scissor jack height on standard cars and is pointless on lowered cars.

I think this is a non-member price but not 100% sure

That's the beastie. I recall I paid about £90 for mine (couple of years ago). Bit more ouch at that price.

Went into Costco last week and it was marked up at £116.38 inc the dreaded VAT. Looks like the price has gone up in the past year or so

Taken a while but took your advice, didn't even need a seal kit, just an O ring in the piston retainer/guide thingy.

Few pence and it's like new again, I'd forgotten how far up it goes !!!!! smile
