What changes are proposed? A quick Google didn't give me much to go on.

Flickr's determination to turn itself into Facebook.
Your browser might not show the 'Try our new photo experience beta' link. That gives you an insight into Flickr's intended future. You can no longer edit your posts, you cannot add a photo to a comment, plus other poor layout choices.
All retrograde steps that will fulfill Flickr CEO Marissa Mayer's promise of an 'Awesome Flickr' when what she really meant was 'Lets make Flickr into Facebook'.
I for one am using Flickr much less that I used to because of the retrograde steps they've taken. For me. it's no longer a pleasure to interact with fellow flickr friends because of the terrible new layout.

Slightly OT, but has anyone tried http://www.ipernity.com? It seems to look and work very much like the old flickr.

I tried Ipernity. Couldn't get into it. I'm not happy with Flickr either. They keep on introducing changes seemingly for the sake of change. They don't seem to have learned that when people are paying for a service, either provide what they want or their customers tend to vote with their feet. The only thing keeping me at Flickr is the fact that images hosted on there look pretty much as I expect them to (which isn't the case with certain other image hosting websites)

The are many vacuous photo sharing sites. Flickr distinguishes itself by being pro photography. Sadly that is changing.


Even the try button fails - it obscures video controlls so just existing it reduces the functionality of the site.

The 'new'stream is terrible and I myself am uploading far fewer shots and looking at other sites.

That makes no sense.

She should keep tumblr as a free service to attract the 'coveted younger crowd' who will use thier smartphones and reti filters and continue to develop flikr to attract more mature serious fee paying photographers.

The problem is now they are giving away 1 tb storage for free how will they attract fees?

I think she's made a pretty big mistake here. She's trying to sell both flikr and tumblr to the same group of people. A group who already have Facebook and Instagram. She's a fool

I (used) to use Yahoo mail.

It was the best web based email program out there if you actually want to use it for work purposes. Multiple tabs open at once, good search function, the lot.

Then Yahoo "improved" it and now it is totally fked. So fked I've gone back to a unused-for-8-years Hotmail account. You can Google "is Yahoo mail crap" and you will see that most of the Yahoo userbase has this same opinion.

If this is anything like what Yahoo are thinking for Flickr then Flickr is fked.

Smugmug also revamped their offering and has driven me insane since then with its clunky interface
