1988 Carrera Clubsport (M637)

A classic 911 i really, really liked, and still do is the 88 Clubsport in Grand Prix white with the red decals. There used to be one parked up round the corner from me when i were a wee lad in West Bridgford Nottingham - always stopped to admire it! Just intrigued atm as to prices - how much would you need for a tidy one of these today?

There are very few around, even less for sale. Actually none. I'd guess that if one did come up for sale you'd need to find about £70k. You would also need to be be quick.

One just sold for £120,000. Looks like that boat is sailing out of the port just behind the one full of RS's.

it was virtually del miles. two del miles cars i know of have sold for north of £100k. I think they're cheap if you can get a good one for £70k. only 53 UK cars i think. rarer than a 964 RS and a purer drive with no power steering. can't remember if they have even have ABS.

The danger with paying the premium for a "delivery mileage" car is, could you use it ?

I much prefer the Continental view that sensible mileage maintains a car's value. rather than detracts from it !!

No ABS, no electric safety devices of any kind, very raw and direct, lovely

A normal 1988 Carrera isn't that far behind in terms of performance and can readily be made to look like a CS for a fraction of the cost

Blimey, I'd have to pay more than i thought then. Very similar to RS prices? I think i'd rather have the CS though. If money and opportunity arises, it's a car i really would love to own.

I disagree, the RS is definitely much more special than the CS.

Have you ever seen a summary of all the RS mods ? For the 993RS they produced a workshop supplement that makes a very sizeable catalogue of improvements in almost every area !

Re: ABS. Have you ever driven a wet circuit without ABS ???

You had better either be a very good driver --- or drive rather slowly.

And if it's the numbers that tickle your fancy, how about the 964RS in Touring spec --- only 7 of those were sold in the UK ---

In my view CS is good, but not that good ...

yes , in an IB lighter than a CS with nearly 50hp more , its not an issue

I had a CS for many years (in fact the one in the picture at the top - I still have the plate) - one of the nicest 911s I have ever driven.

We were on holiday and came across this one in the car park of the Haynes motor museum, owned by a really nice older couple, they used it properly!

I don't think anyone said the CS is more special than a RS just rarer. I was looking at an RS Touring LHD and almost fell off my chair for the price of a 200km car. What would a fair price be for this if you know a bit about them pls? It looks lovely and it wouldn't bother me that its done lots of miles but at £100k just seems silly perhaps I am out of touch with values? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

Must admit I find the values for the Club Sport slightly odd. It was basically a budget car with weight savings achieved by deleting most of the options. I don't think it had any Motorsport connections (unlike the RS cars). I'm not saying that it isn't lovely to drive but then a standard 3.2 with similar options and a couple of tweaks would be the same and could be done for a fraction of £70'000. And £120k?

Values driven simply by how many were made is pretty pathetic in my view.

how much is th+is old girl worth to the right buyer? ill have to tell the owner he can buy a gt3 now. i took a 997 gt3 for a mot at his mot station and he said he would love one if he won the lottery. looks like he could sell this and get 1!
