I'm quite attracted to the concept of the HSCC 70's roadsports - rewards for sriving to events, limited mods, interior largely complete, friendly atmosphere for a beginner etc. Is there a similar series for more modern cars (ideally ones that have done most of their depreciation)?

Thanks

750MCs Roadsports
or CSCC Modern Classics

I would say the 750MC is probably the better option for a novice racer - friendly paddock, quite a few novices. CSCC is a bit more competitive but still a great series

+1 for 750mc roadsports. To be fair, I've never raced CSCC so it could be just as fun, but the racing this year with 750mc has been a lot of fun and the car is as straight as it started the year.

and it's worth mentioning both series are all 1 day events.
20mins qualifying and 40/45min races

+1 for 750MC Roadsports. Might even have championship status for 2014 if you're interested in doing the whole season.

CSCC has series for cars from the 80s (the Future Classics series) and from the 90s and some post 2000 cars (the Modern Classics series).

Both series are 30 min qualifying and 40 min races with a compulsory pit stop for one or two drivers. Both are novice friendly and plenty of new drivers to the sport have started with CSCC.

Cars in FC vary from Porsches (944 are popular) to MX5 to Alfas to MR2 etc.

Cars in MC vary from BMWs to Porsches (again) to MX5 (again) to Lotus Elise to Ginetta G20 to Smart 4:2 (really). I race a cheap old Porsche 924S in this series and am the drivers rep.

If you want any more info, please get in touch and I am happy to help.
