Was trying to sort out the head lamp pods again this weekend (unsuccessful) and notices a fair amount of water around the battery. Is there meant to be a home or anything there for that water to drain. Was too fed up of the lights to take the battery out and check myself... So took the top down and went for a spin instead

No drain, rain does tend to sit there if the car is parked and then get thrown over the edge when you brake... the only place it could drain to would be into the wing or into the footwell, neither of which is desirable.

it's a natural collecting point. When I first got the 400 it took me a while to figure out that water from washing it etc. was collecting there and dripping through some cracks under the battery and soaking the carpets. Re-glassing the area fixed it. However, there is no drain, but driving the car should disperse it.

My 400 has a drain by the battery . I am certain it was done at the factory, same bore copper pipe as the fuel line. Does help move water away, straight onto the Chassis! That was until i added a length of tube onto it.

Yes I suppose you could plumb in a length of 8mm copper or similar and run it down through the car, might add a joint that can leak into footwell though.

I remember after doing a load of work on the car then washing it before driving it out up the road and around the roundabout, loads of steam pluming out the bonnet where all the water had sloshed onto the exhaust manifold, I thought ffs whats happened now?

Dear Santa

Please can I have a Wedge for Christmas? With a Chimaera dashboard ideally....... silly
I love the picture above, but just can't face driving my Dad's 1963 Phillips Radiogram.....( as they called music centers before they called them HiFis)

Yours truly

Didn't you know ? It's a DESIGN FEATURE.... and not just the battery side either. On my 2.8, BOTH sides collect the rainwater.

Either go for a drive or rock the car, or let the tyres down in sequence.....
