Which HD camcorder

The girlfriend and I are going on holiday to San Francisco / Los Angeles / Chicago. We're hiring a car (SUV maan) and will driving the Golden coast, Highway 1/101 etc. Lots of sight seeing etc as well. There will be day time and night time filming.

Most likely make use of it for car /motorbike stuff too at some point if Ive got it.

Was initially thinking GoPro for mounting in car etc but Im up for alternative suggestions. Be good if its a size to fit in her handbag.

If you want to go a bit larger, I use a couple of Panasonic SD800 & X900 handycams and they are really very good - twice the price of a GoPro, mind, so you really need to think what your priorities are

Just to give you a heads up, the gopro (or any pov camera) is really a B camera you won't want to shoot all your holiday footage on one it will be poo.

I would suggest you get yourself a £300-£400 normal camcorder it will be much more useable.

The footage from these is as good as you would ever need for personal use and it gives you a few more options if you need them.
