would be VERY surprised if you were not offered a BIG discount.
Just don't come across as too keen.

Depends:-
A) you don't want one in resale Black / Silver Grey
B) You want a non black interior
C) You want it on the cheap finance deal that keeps popping up.

Otherwise no!

If you have £102k to spend you should be buying this

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

You can then waste your change on something frivolous and unnecessary biggrin

You probably already know the following, but just in case;

Customer ordered new cars, would not usually involve much or any discount.

Dealers do order (or obtain) new cars for stock, and these are sometimes offered at substantial discounts.

If you have time, and are like me stingy when buying depreciating assets, you could use my method. It works best though for people buying a 'keeper', because the time effort would probably not equate with short-term ownership.

Choose the exact specification that you want.
Use the Pre-owned listing and wait for your car to appear.
You can easily save £40,000.
So, you get a V8V with a warranty, for under 60k.
Many Aston Martins are little used and very well looked after, so you are actually buying a 'new car'.

Enjoy your search. Ownership is a delight.

Thanks for the ideas everyone......please stop dangling these V12V in front of me..very cruel frown

I usually change my car every 2 to 3 years and usually go the pcp route as regards to financing....additionally due to sustaining a life changing injury while serving in the middle east....if i buy new i can claim the vat back but the car must be new or vat qualifying.

So you can imagine that together with the vat aspect and the possible additional dealer discounts if available it can all add up to a tidy sum and makes the possible choices very attractive....also the added security of a manufacturers warranty for my particular situation is a must

any advice or ideas greatly received

That ceramic grey car is a great buy, albeit they are standard seats

Anyway, regarding V8s, as the other posts say, there are a lot of ex demo and showroom stock (never driven, never registered) cars which have big discounts: I'd guess 15-20k right now on a V8 off full list price including options.

If you go to branch which is part of a chain, e.g. Stratstones, they will access all the cars in their network, not just those at their specific showroom. The majority of these cars are not advertised so you need to phone & see what's in stock.

You can get discount on brand new, customer spec cars but you will have more luck down this route if they know you through an introduction or being a past customer.

Regardless of which route, they will give far less info re discounts over the phone to someone they don't know, especially someone without an Aston history (?) even about unregistered cars, than to someone who walks in or that they have a relationship with.

Also bear in mind there are at least one of each example on show, factory specced, in the foyer at Gaydon which the dealers can bid on - they are swapped typically every 3 months

Bottom line is that unless you have an unusual colour or trim request, you will almost certainly find what you want as a demo, unregistered or low miles car with a most significant discount and when you come to sell, it will be worth almost no less than if you have specced it from new

EDIT: My post went up at the same time as yours about the advantage of new, VAT qualifying cars

Hi Comrie,

If you have settled your mind on having a new Aston and that you intend keeping it for the immediate future then my advice would be to go for it! To give you a guide my new S was bought for less than the price of a late used one. I would add that the car came with £17,000 worth of options. There are only 21 dealerships out there , decide on colours that you wouldn't choose then play one off against the other . All new cars sitting at dealers are on a stocking plan , after so long they go fully paid. If you can find a dealer in that position you will get a cracking deal. The time of year is greatly on your side as well. Registering another new car in 2013 will probably bag you another £1000 or more off. Ring Rachel @ H.R. Owen in Cheltenham . If there is a deal to be done she will be the one to sort it. Tell her Rob sent you.

Regarding V8 , or V8 S. No contest V8S with ASM 2 . I should know I am on my second!

Unless buying a pauper spec V8, the S and the SP10 work out the much better buys than the base V8 and not much more money. Plus you can now get either transmission in all models of V8V IIRC

Can I thank everyone for the comments and advice...greatly appreciated

I have taken the advice onboard and my fist port of call is to visit the nearest dealer and let them know of my interest in there marque......jonby gave excellent advice and I will look at ex demo and showroom stock to start with and try to strike a good relationship with the dealer........I am in the position I can take my time and am not steadfast on a particular colour or spec.....my number 1 colour choice would be tungsten ...so not an uncommon colour.

What I will do is haggle very hard with the dealers concerned on there ex demo or showroom stock....my ultimate quest is to source a V8VS sport shift auto vat qualifying car that starts with the number 7

the search begins

Comrie..... Without getting personal, I assume that the life changing injury, may mean an auto or sportshift is the only option??

If so the V8s would be the way I'd be headingsmile
