Fibre internet thingy, Darley exchange? Anyone on it?
Discussion
The internet websites I'm looking on say the Darley exchange is activated and accepting orders, but everywhere I try (even BT sites) say it's not an Infinity area... same with PlusNet etc etc.
Does anyone know what is going on with that exchange?
Looking to rent/buy up in that area and would like to get fast internet so don't have an exact number or postcode. But looking around it looks like most numbers in the area are getting very reasonable ADSL speeds so can't see why fibre won't be accessible in most numbers in the exchange area.
In my last property I had 2.5meg ADSL (pretty poor), but the fibre speeds were very reasonable indeed.
Cheers

Yep that's the one.
FTTC is enabled but not to all properties it seems. I wonder then what plans there may be for further roll out etc.
Main thing is entering into contracts etc and then finding out that fibre becomes available and being stuck with charges for cancellation etc.
Also curious how the exchange can be fttc enabled but not to all properties. Most other exchanges seem to offer fibre all over if its there at all.
Moving next week so probably gonna have to find a contract free adsl ISP for now.
Thanks
Dave

Maybe not all cabinets are enabled on that exchange, so only certain areas get connected?
Or maybe just the current line is on a non enabled 'bit' of the exchange?!
I'll probably get a new number when we move in and combine it with an infinity order, that way at least they might make extra efforts to get it working if possible.
I remember moving into our last house with dial up only, no adsl available. Got a new number issued a week later and suddenly we had 2meg adsl... Very fast at the time.
Makes you wonder if this is just a 'database' issue.
