Well I have always wondered and thought about it , I BROUGHT A SMART CAR !! But want to fit a bike engine
I have a triumph ST engine with a remap and de catted about 150 BHP which is not to over the top and the sound of the triumph triple will be less screaming than a 4 cylinder jap
anyway I want input on links to drawings for sub frame or photos and bits and bobs
ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Nice one, sounds interesting, good luck with the project.
These guys produce bespoke kits to fit bike engines into Smarts.
And I've just done a Google search - if you do the same, you'll find millions of information about it - it's fairly common it seems.

£7500 excluding the engine is a bit salty for me....These guys produce bespoke kits to fit bike engines into Smarts.

Even the late 1050 Sprint engines only makes 123bhp from the factory, how on earth have managed to get it up to 150bhp?

One thing I would say is that it would be worth keeping the De-dion rear axle if possible; fully trailing arm rear suspension is pretty poor unless you have negligible body roll as there is no camber control at all.

I've always thought the Roadster (particular in Brabus spec) would be a better candidate for a bike engine.
They are all a too heavy to make the best use of a (sports)bike engine, unless you can really trim them down. Lugging ~4 times the weight of the original bike around puts a lot of stress on the clutch and gearbox.Edited by Mr2Mike on Monday 9th December 20:25
