Oulton Park photos - mid 70s
Discussion
My father finally got round to putting all his slides and photos from the 70s on to a digital format so I thought I'd share the first lot taken at Oulton Park some point in the 70s
The shot of the Yardley Mclaren in the paddock is quite nice and sums up the era well, it looks so amateurish but it was most likely a Gold Cup meeting so fairly high profile despite teh relaxed nature of the paddock.
The one of Fitipaldi in a 72 is probably my favourite, I just can't imagine how good that sounded!!

Pablo, some great photos in that lot thanks for posting them
Point your Dad at this old PistonHeads thread for Oulton, I see you're the third poster on it!! Loads of good photos on it.

The 72 sounded nice,if exactly the same as any other DFV engined car of the time. The better noise came from the howling BRM V12s and the the thunderous F5000s- which may have had pushrod Detroit V8s (and sometimes carburettors too ) but they shook the ground. Happy days ...
My first GP was back in ’71 at Silverstone when it was “Gold Leaf” Team Lotus.Dave Walker (I think) drove the turbine car – Very eerie – not a lot of noise just a “whoosh” – probably tyre noise !!
