The last Chimaera I had (a '95 500) used to blow air on your right knee, even with the blowers off. But am I imagining it? This W reg 4.0 has no air vent in that area.

Thankfully, I have found one reference to 'earlier' cars having it because I was beginning to think I had imagined it. Any ideas when it was removed? I can't honestly remember if it was good to have or bad.

My 95 has it, operated by a circular switch under the dash.

My 99 has not.

Yep, my 95 had it, 98 didn't.

Was a handy device when switching the ignition on to open the boot. A nice audio reminder not to turn the key any further biggrin

There should be two push button switches - one SPST for the dash lights over your left knee that always seems to catch out new owners and one Momentary over your right knee for the boot release. There may also be a third knob to the right of the steering column underneath the dash that controls the speed of the "fresh air blower" for the drivers side ...

I have no bloody idea what real world use it actually is as it just makes the world colder in winter and little different in summer ...

There are far better ways of cooling down an overheated nutsack in summer ...

As a slight aside, is there supposed to be any hot air blowers to the feet?

I think that the only place my car gives heat from (now it has a working thermostat) is the vents in the dash, central and sides, and the windscreen vents.

Is there anywhere else for my feet?

There should be a flip open/closed type of vent in each footwell. The passenger one is below the glovebox pouch and the driver's side is by your left knee.

If you look under the dash there will be a circular louvre which you can open, assuming there's no difference between a 95 and a 97 there should be one on the driver side and one on the passenger side

Found them, thanks.

So these blow hot and cold air depending upon heater setting rather than just cold air?

They are supposed to. The heater in mine is very good and my legs can get too hot sometimes with the amount of hot air they they throw out.
