996 C2 has gone...

After much deliberation I put my car up for sale a couple of weeks ago as I now have the Porsche bug and had started leisurely browsing the classified 996 turbo section with keen interest!
I have been trying to convince myself to get something more practical for eg M3 but they just weren't doing it for nice but not nice enough, feel like I am in a vicious circle as I now compare potential cars to a Porsche!
Managed to sell my C2 on Saturday to a really nice chap who was after a nice clean example close to standard as possible (which mine was).
Have to say it was a sad moment watching it drive off in the distance hearing the growl from the PSE (loved that exhaust note). It had been in the family for the last seven years my dad owned it previously and well looked after and I always looked forward to taking it for a spin was a fun car to drive.
So currently I am car less! I Have a Tip Cobalt blue turbo lined up fortunately through someone I know, if everything goes to plan I could have it this Saturday as it needs to go through a service and get a couple of bits sorted before I purchase.

Didnt have a preference just wanted to find one as close to my ideal spec as pas possible and this one ticks all the the boxes, there is a way round improving the tip ... Aftermarket paddle shift!

I don't think that 'improves' them? It will still only change gear when the Tip box feels it is appropriate. It doesn't manualise the process any like the PDK.

Essentially it will not do anything different to the manual steering wheel buttons but in my opinion the paddle shift improves the interaction as opposed to pushing the steering wheel buttons, I have tried one out with paddle shift wheel fitted and it is a bit more involving. Agreed there it wont completely manualise like PDK and there maybe occasions where the Tip decides to change gear for me.. I think Tips are fine though personally.
Mmm, maybe I don't understand PDK. How does PDK manualise things better than a tip? Clearly I see the difference between buttons and paddles, but otherwise I thought PDK just had a quicker acting change? Don't tip and PDK both have just manual gear setting where changes are driven by buttons/paddles?
I had an auto A4 once with paddles and it was OK. I also had a drive of a DSG A4 which was supposedly better, but to be honest I could only just about tell the difference and felt the DSG was oversold.
Of course they are all slush boxes to me (dons hard hat for the barrage).

the PDK changes gear as soon as you hit the button - assuming your not going to blow the engine with your actions. The Tip will acknowledge the request but only do it when it feels it is appropriate. From memory (only test driven a few) you couldn't drop from 5th to second with an F1 style "blip blip blip" (technical term) like you can with a PDK, you'd go down the gears gradually as the car slowed - and if you've not timed it right, the car will do it for you anyway.I had an auto A4 once with paddles and it was OK.
