Have just had a hellish few weeks. Started with a dose of flu which I finally managed to get over after 2 weeks, apart from a lingering cough... which then because pneumonia and left me so short of breath I needed an ambulance to take me to hospital! I was in for a week on IV antibiotics, oxygen, nebuliser, blood pressure & heart meds, etc. The ward itself was a fecking nightmare - I don't think I got more than 3 hours continuous sleep while I was there, it was so damn noisy.
Got out last Monday, now at home recovering, still on lots of meds, but getting there.
This week I realised that because I'd been in an NHS hospital, my AXA PPP healthcare cover should give me a payout for the nights I spent as an NHS in-patient, so I called them up. Was expecting to be eligible for £40-£50 a night or so.
Turns out it's £150 per night. Seven nights = £1,050. That almost makes the nightmare worthwhile!

Yup, add that to my annual salary, along with the savings I'd make with no commuting and lower electric/gas/grocery costs, it would make for a damn good year! Although I think if I'd been in there more than a week I'd have gone completely stir crazy. I couldn't wait to get home in the end.

Don't blame you, I tried to get out same day after an op I had Although I think if I'd been in there more than a week I'd have gone completely stir crazy. I couldn't wait to get home in the end.
Had to wait a day to get released but couldn't have been happier

Was told at 7.30am on the Monday that I would be able to go that day. So happy, I was all packed up ready to go by 8am. Eventually got discharged at 6pm. Took a whole fecking day for them to do some paperwork and sort out the meds... Had to wait a day to get released but couldn't have been happier

It took 4 hours for meds for my OH because they forgot about her 
It took them an hour to sort out after I made them aware of out waiting time, apparently doctors are busy.....
