Hi guys looking at buying 2 sonos play 1's for my lounge and I'm looking to purchase either the sub or the play bar. Can anyone tell me which is best to go with the play 1's?

They do two completely different things, so it really depends on what you what to achieve.

Assuming this is for music then the sub. If you're looking to integrate with the TV for a surround experience then both.

Just got the playbar it's excellent, and has a suprising amount of bass and low mids.
Very impressed, no need for a sub 99% of the time
IMHO.

I bought 2 play ones and a playbar last month. The play ones were delivered first so I set them up for just music for first few days and then added playbar few days later. I was very impressed with them a stand alone music players (so much so I just bought another 2 for the kitchen) but they needed more base for the lounge (its a good sized room at around 27 feet square). Adding the playbar has given some more bass to them but still I am looking a buying a sub soon. If you just want to use them for music then get sub but to integrate with tv then you need to get playbar (preferably with sub as well!).

I don't know how true it is but I believe the playbar is not very 'musical' its more tuned to speach, so from what I have read you want the 2xplay:1's and the sub for the best music results.

The sonos sub is superb, just wished it was available in white!
