At a complete loss here folks. Bit of a strange one.

Any ideas why it could be that when i turn the blowers on full (4) it creates a vacuum inside the car making me unable to open the doors from the inside? I know it must be a vacuum because if i turn the fan to 3 or crack open the window even slightly then in able to open the door fine. It can also be opened from the outside when the blowers are at 4. hehe

Another thing i noticed is this - when you stand outside the car with it running and the heaters on full, there is a definite "whoosing" noise coming from around the fuel filler/ rear quarter area of the car - almost as if the air is being channeled through the car and escaping there. Its quite a loud hissing noise that appears to be related to fan speed. Had a look in the filler area expecting to see some holes or gaps in the bodywork but found nothing.

any ideas? I fking hate these cars. hehe

Many thanks in advanced,
Nikos

I'm guessing this happens when using the recirculating air, rather than drawing air through from outside. The blowers being too powerful for the amount of air in the cabin, hence the imbalance.

ETA: If drawing from outside air; then perhaps the pollen filter is a tad clogged, thus preventing enough air being drawn through and creating the 'prob.

This. IIRC, it's quite easily replaced by removing the glovebox.

I cannot see how a fan, which is pushing air into the car, can create a vacuum unless it's running backwards. Puzzled I am! Get someone to stand outside when this happens, and crack a window down to see if air rushes in or out.

The noise at the rear is probably normal - most cars, in order to get airflow through the cabin, vent the air somewhere around the C-pillar, or behind the seats. I've heard the same thing on my neighbour's Ford.

Many cars have a vent in the rear panel or lower quarter panels behind the bumpers to allow the air to escape/vent.
