Other than the major online retailers (Majestic et al) does anyone know if this, or other Japanese beers of a similar type are readily available in UK stores and if so which ones are generally a good bet?

Many thanks.

Waitrose sell it. Well, they certainly have in the past.

Tesco stocks a decent range, including the Asahi Black, which I like.

As mentioned Tescos stock Asahi and Asahi Black. The standard one is brewed in the UK by Shepherd Neame, the Black is imported from Japan.

Tesco also sell Sapporo in a weird pint glass shaped can and Kirin Ichiban too which again, is a Japanese brand but brewed in the UK by Everards.

Tesco now do Sapporo - 600mls 'uncrushable' cans. Had them at our wedding after trying them at Yo Sushi (bought direct from the importer rather than the supermarket after some research) and they went down a storm. Very nice brew.

If you like Japanese beer look out for Suntory Premium Malts - very nice.

Go to your local Asian supermarket, you might get it cheaper in there.

I know my local ( Matthew's in Edinburgh) sells Kirin/Asahi etc cheaper than other supermarkets.
