Hi

Looking at either a 2006 Honda Accord 2.2 diesel with 70K FSH or a 2005 new shape Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 petrol 5 door 70K FSH.

The Suzuki is 2K cheaper but I'll spend that on extra fuel over the diesel during my ownership so cancels out really.

I have 2 young kids and this will be our family car. Will be doing approx. 14k miles per year.

Both are timing chains.

Thanks for any opinions.

Sorry a bit yawn inducing. Why not flip a coin or just pick the colour you like most.

14k/year would probably opt for the diesel to be honest. Plus I'd much prefer the accord.

Neither of them really hair-raising though.

yeah fair enough not the most exciting prospects I admit.

Thought I'd still ask you fine people the question anyway.

Where's that coin........

Of the two I would go for the Accord. Will be a lot more refined than the GV for the annual mileage that you do and the 2.2 tdi is great.

Or if you want an SUV then what about the Honda CRV with the same engine?

I imagine the Suzuki is going to be bouncy and more crude and, while petrol engines are ordinarily a greater aural satisfaction, it probably is less of an issue here.

I would look at the Accord but try and find a petrol. Diesel will be more to service and those forthcoming MOT DPF issues are a looming spectre.

If it was me, I'd probably actually buy the Suzuki on the off chance it might snow and I could be a hero and get to work...and do all the work those lazy f*cks who couldn't be ars*d trying weren't doing while they sat at home on their spotty ars*s drinking cocoa in their fluffy dressing gowns while I contemplate how and if I can get home...

Let's look at that Accord again... wink

Accord, not just for looks, but the 2.2 Honda engine is meant to be very good smile

A bit rude mate! nono

Personally I would go for the Accord out of those 2 as I imagine it would be a fair bit safer. My ex had a Suzuki Vitara and it didn't inspire me that it would have protected me particularly well in the event of a smash.

Out of interest, is there any particular reason it is out of these two choices?

Neither

I'd go for the petrol version of the accord

We had a 2.2D accord and it was thristy and unreliable

Weird choice of cars.

If you are going off-road/towing then the Suzuki.

Otherwise the Honda.
