I'm considering a moving into Micro4/3 from point and shoot. Size is important.

With regards to four-thirds, depends what you want from a larger camera? The sensor size is still a fair bit smaller (and squarer) than a normal APS-H DSLR: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sensor_sizes_ov...

It's OK but not a mind-blowing deal. The EP3 uses the old Olympus sensor (made by Panasonic) so there is a slight difference to the newer models which use the Sony sensor. But it's a nice step up from a point-and-shoot anyway.
I'd recommend the EPL-5 over it, which is cheaper on Amazon and has the newer sensor. The 40-150 has an older version (which is cheaper, but same quality, although has a dated look) which can be gotten relatively cheaply second hand on eBay.

Really, E-PL5 over P3. I hadn't considered the PL models thinking they were the smaller cut down version of the true PEN model. I am wrong yes? The PL5 is as good or better than a 2year old P3? Because I'll pull the trigger on one of those PL5 deals if so.

That's a killer link thanks Mr Will. I shall digest it and spit out a decision. Just the onboard flash issue that puts me off the PL5, but it's not much of a problem.

Buying new rather than second hand is also v attractive for the PL 5.

Glad you found it helpful

One more thing to point out, the PL5 does not have a built in flash but instead comes with one in the box that you can clip on the top if/when required.
