Hi

Currently looking into a number of formats for project car!!

Does anyone know of Tamora which is running 19inch Alloys?? I have concerns over the cars ability to perform effectively but it has be suggested that they would be OK

As a bit of fun I tried my 19" Jade R wheels on my Tamora. It didn't go well.

Rubbing issues or handling or both?

Not sure why you would want 19s on a Tam. Maybe different 18s that are lighter / stronger than the spiders. The only reason I can think of to go to 19s is cosmetic if a bigger-wheel look was desired, but18 to 19 is quite a small change.

Didn't ride as well, but rubbing issues as well. I rub still with 18s on there still (but I am a hell of a lump in a car like that), so it's flawed both ways.

Yes, but the front was far, far worse.

Maybe a suspension issue? Spring rates a bit soft, ride height low?

I am a svelte 95kg and don't have issues with rubbing on 18s. Unless the car hits a really nasty bump at speed, but that is rare, about 1 per thousand miles so far.

I am not a big fan of the suspension (and brake) setup generally, still haven't got it how I want it.

Gaz golds, and over 105kg... (deep joy). I'm honestly thinking about going back to standard shocks.

Think you will find a lot of the rubbing issues are down to variances in a hand built car ie the inner wheel arches can vary by quite a bit meaning rubbing on some cars and not others.

Probably why some cars can run 225/40 fronts and others have to stick with 225/35. I would like to try 40 profile on the front, but don't want to buy 2 tyres to find out if it works.

It's all about ride height and suspension setup. Get it setup properly smile

My lovely Saab worked really well as stock. The TVR less so.

I am not sure the issues I have are to do with 18" wheels. I would be surprised if that were the case.

Even if there are some benefits to the 16s, I am afraid I think the 18s look better.

It does seem odd that when the Tuscan appeared the testers raved about the handling, it was on 16s, then almost all went out with 18s and everyone said how twitchy it felt.

On mine it is not twitchiness - that is fine. Gaz Gold Pro (yes, I know it isn't Nitrons) setup by Neil Garner and have had a few compliments including from TVR Power on how well it rides.

Moving off-topic slightly...

Viewed from the underside, I don't like the fact that the rear dampers only have 10-15mm travel (with car loaded) before meeting the bumpstops and it seems to use all that travel. Front dampers don't operate all the way to the bumpstops. Despite the dampers being close to the bumpstops, the rear wheels still move enough for occassional wheel arch rub on a particularly big bump...

Ride height is normal, not low.

Driving on a handling pad the breakaway characteristics seem fine, and 130+ on Millbrook's bumpy banked circuit it felt quite stable.

My issue is more the braking side of the setup, but that is a long story.

Evo felt differently and strongly urged people to forego the vanity factor of the 18s and order their Tamora with the 16"stock wheels. TBH I've never driven or rode in a TVR on 18s all round that felt really composed.
