different question - winter tyres - runflats?
Discussion
All other things being equal, are winter tyres better as runflats, i.e. with a stiffer sidewall?
I've never had runflats, my car(s) do not have them on the spec-sheet, so could anyone suggest if runflat winters would be
a) better
b) worse
c) wouldn't notice
... than non-runflat winters.
Did that make any sense?

I don't think you'd really want run-flat winters, they are usually a softer compound for various reasons so stiffening them seems silly.
The compound of the rubber has little to do with the stiffness of the carcass. Winter tyres are typically less rigid than summers and I'd guess there's a reason for that. Therefore RFT winters probably not ideal.
ETA: yeah, wot he said ^ I quoted the wrong person.
