I paid £2500 (including the APR) for my V8S in July. Extortion yes, but fair enough given its was my first car. I had imagined that a Cerbera at almost double the power and more than double the price (quote based on 4.5 £21k) would be an extra £1000 for me, or more!

As it turns out, the cerb is just about the same price as my V8S (without APR, close enough!!!) and next year with 1 years ncd the same cerb will only cost £1300

I knew next year would be cheaper, but jeez, I had no idea just how cheap! Thats like 40% off with 1 years NCB!!

APR is a bd!! For me it was an extra £600 this year, so I paid it all in one go. So Rob, you going to be selling me you V8S next year?

That drop is good! How old are you now? Jst for reference and so I can call you old for getting a Cerbie for that insurance!!

Good Idea, I think I'll pay in advance next year

I couldnt believe it though, I thought my insurance would be going UP if I got a cerb to 3k+. The fact that its coming down by £1000 with 1 years NCB is fantastic! Good old Sunninghill said that even if I did have a claim between now and then, they would still insure me (remember the 107 companies that declined me before I called Sunninghill! )

Im 29 mate, and there are no definite plans to buy a cerbera next year It all depends on how much business I can drum up, money I can make etc. Impossible to say anything for sure. Weeelll see If I kept my V8S, I'd be looking at a £1000+ discount so either way Im happy!!

You'll be able to check out a lot of TVR specific policies next year as you'll ne near 30?? Also a lot need 1 years experience of driving a TVR. So you may be able to get even more discount.

Im a long way from 30, but you're right. I think 1 years NCB on a TVR seperates the more mature drivers from those with the over excited right foot. In the minds of the insurers anyway. Its all good stuff Sunninghill was mentioned many times in every "Which insurance" thread. It was too late to speak to them on friday night when I began calling round, and after a frustrating weekend, spoke to them on Monday and was relieved at the £2500 quote. The only other quote out of the 109 that wasn't declined straight out was for £3k, hence I assumed next year on a twice the price/power cerbera I would be looking at 3k+.

How about the Mid Essex meet Sunday? Will give you a call

I was 32 when I bought my S2, my insurance was £2200 as I had no ncd having lived abroad for a few years etc. My renewal is due next month and I have bought something more practical (or should I say boring) for every day use.

Seems odd to me that I am older and paying more for my V6 than you did your V8. I guess it could have something to do with the area I live in or do they just pluck figures from the sky?

Anyway, I think I'll give your insurers a call as mine want £770 to insure the every day car next year... Thats without the S....

It's days like these that I think my £936 fully comp on 15, 000 miles per year isn't that bad.

I paid more, my insurance was £2500 (the cerbie next year, if I get one) will be £1300

Amazing that the price can come down so much, but Aaron at sunninghill did say that one year of TVR experience + 1 years NCD goes a loooong way. Rightly so, I suppose.

Wildfire, you forgot to mention your age... on days like this

I called Sunninghill for a quote for next year... reasonably good price (£980). Trouble is I asked them for a quote on my tin-top at the same time and they said I could only use my 1 years NCB on one of the cars but not both....

Is that normal? I mean I could call up someone else and giove them the same details but state that I have 1 years NCB couldn't I?

What does everyone else with two cars do wrt insurance?

You'd be better off getting a 0% credit card and paying it off monthly...

I don't insure the other cars. Well I don't drive them either. Anyhow, elephant said they would mirror the NCB (6 years) from the TVR on anything else, but it would be like a new policy in that after 1 year I would only have 1 year NCB, but I would still pay as if I had 6.

Depends, if you only want limited mileage you can go through Classic line and they dont require a No claism discount as its classed as second car, classic car insurance. My V8S with no 'No claims bonus' costs me £270 per year including breakdown cover limited to 5000 miles!

When I purchased my TVR I used my 5 years NCD on that, so when it came to insuring my runabout I went through the same options.

In the end I insured it with Admiral who also had the renewal for my wife's car (both in her name) and they mirrored her NCD, the next year my car went to elephant.co.uk (same company as Admiral) and they switched the NCD over to my name, I now have a 2nd NCD sitting around (only two cars at the moment) with 4 years on it...
