The Most Secure Car Park In The World
Discussion
In fact, according to Wikipedia, one of the most secure places in the entire world.
If you aren't aware of where I'm talking about, today I left the confines of Essex and travelled to Derby (expected it to be grim and Northern, but was actually quite pleasant
), where I parked in a multi-storey car park that can lay claim to the above descriptions. It's known as Bold Lane and I've never seen anywhere quite like it: apparently there's not been a single recorded instance of car crime due to the (very smart) design. Being a loser, I wanted to know more and so Googled it and found the following document: http://extra.shu.ac.uk/dac/parksafe.pdf
Why-oh-why are there not more places like this?! I would happily pay a premium for it everywhere I went! My only criticism was the entry and exit points were the usual fairly tight affair, flanked with alloy wheel-munching kerb stones.
I even took some pictures for those who may be car park enthusiasts.
How to do things correctly (they guarantee no car crime):

The sensor in the middle of each space that detects the smallest unauthorised vehicle movements:

Look at the size of the bays! No door dents here.

What measures would stop someone in a hoody scratching a key across your car as they walked past, and how has that never happened?
No car crime, ever?
Cannot believe that.
I did think that, but I guess there's a couple of reasons why it's (supposedly) not happened:No car crime, ever?
Cannot believe that.
1. On foot, you can only gain access to the car park with a valid card ticket thing.
2. There's a s
tload of live monitored CCTV and all entry and exit points can be locked down, so perhaps those who are that way inclined just can't be arsed with it and decide to key a nice car that's parked somewhere else.David87 said:

Worst "I have a Ranger Rover" thread for a while
No, no, it's not even mine - I borrowed it for the day as I had two passengers and my car has an insufficient number of seats.
I'd much rather have been in a 'proper' Range Rover, but the little Posh Spice one remains a very nice way to cover 400 miles of foggy motorway.
