Tell him to poke it.

In the same way that he thinks there are plenty of cars to choose from so he can be as much of a knob as he likes, there are also plenty of buyers who will want your car and know how to be polite.

Nothing feels quite as good as telling a wker that no, he isn't getting to buy your car, now fk off.

I'd knock it on the head, say you aren't happy with the messing about and delays and you're going to sell it to someone else.

The HPI is his choice.

Will almost certainly pull out. Tell him the price is the price, you want ID, and if he doesn't like that to fk off. If it is being sold cheaply, you shouldn't struggle to find a buyer who doesn't suck cock.

So he's agreed to buy it, then can't afford now messing you around. No doubt when it gets down the road something will break......

As long as there is no deposit in the equation I'd be telling him to jog on and be ignoring his further calls.

1. Tell them to ps off.
2. Dont fall for the 'I dont have all the money, will you accept less' trick again.

Tell him to find another car as yours is being re-advertised.
+1

Out of interest, is the offer way under what others have sold for?

ETA: Yes, cheapest 5.7 on the Bay is 9k.

Tell him it's sold. I'd bet a pound to a penny he'll turn up with the cash then discover more "faults" that will need fixing

Its a Chrysler 300C 5.7 Hemi in absolutely mint condition and only 34,000 miles. The price was under £6000 which is what the likes of webuyanycar have offered!

I may put in on the PH classifieds.

I just hate someone knowing where i live when i don't know about them. Esp as the car is not insured anymore!
I'll give you £2k for it, but don't forget I'm doing you a favour here.

And you can pull your own trousers up once I'm finished too...

It will be a driveway 'carz' trader trying to buy it off you no doubt.

Tell him the price, refuse to sell unless you get a copy of his ID ( driving license photocard and a picture of it on your I phone should do the trick) and if he doesn't agree these terms no sale.

Also ask for a copy of his trade insurance so you can see what business name its going into.

If you don't agree the price do not sell. if you are happy do sell.

Trust me, this type of person will. Especially if their "mechanic" friend comes along with them

They're right about the plates though - if you want to keep the number.

If wbac are offering the same money sell it to them, it sounds like you are heading for a world of pain with the 'buyer'and it really won't be worth the aggro.

I had a potential buyer drive all the way up from Birmingham (I'm in the lakes so 2 1/2 hours) to buy my car, we agreed a price on the phone and a px for his car, provided it was as described, he arrived and his car was showing the abs and eml lights, with battered bodywork and 2 bald tyres, despite his promises that it was in perfect condition and that there were no warning lights on the dash, I politely declined and went indoors, he was still there an hour later having an argument with his missus hehe

^^^ This. Always get the plate off BEFORE trying to sell the car.

... Anyway they then call to say they don't want to fill the V5 in until my plates have been put on retention and that they want to fill the yellow part of the V5 so that it doesn't go in there name? (trade insurance or something)
That's a great idea. He can park where he wants, speed through cameras and it ALL comes back to you. And you will have NO proof he bought it. CCJs, Repo men. All will come a knocking.
