Hi all,

For years I have been struggling to lift the front end of my Europa, it is only about 100mm off the ground and the main chassis member is about 500mm from the front end of the car giving really limited access. Then I got the Griff and found the same problem at the rear end.

Anyway I saw this at the Classic show at the NEC and took a punt,

It is awesome, the build quality seams ok. The jack is a bit massive and is almost taking up a whole parking space in my garage but being able to lift both cars high enough to get onto ramps in 2 mins is amazing, in the past getting the Lotus high enough to get ramps under the wheels has taken me an hour of faffing around with blocks of wood and slowly jacking each side of the car.

I will try to get some photos on here at some point but if anyone wants more info feel free to PM me,

Cheers

Mark

Looks good. I have the Halfrauds low trolley jack. No issues jacking my Chim. Standard Halfrauds one is useless.

Halfords standard cheapie is ok if you take an angle grinder to it, leaves a nice aperture to fit over the outrigger/ body bolts.

A block of wood under the tyres will usually lift the car enough to get under there without spending much

This company do a range of low profile trolley jacks and have an ebay shop. They are also on Amazon. They do a smaller one that is half the price of the one above - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Liftmaster-2-25-Ton-Low-...

I always use a piece of high density rubber/foam under the trolley jack head so as it does not mark the chassis.

I've found one of these helps:

Sorry, I had to lob that one in.

CostCo do a really good jack, it weighs a ton but it has a low level reach and I think has a weight limit of about 3 tonnes. Good price as well.

I also have the MachineMart light weight aluminium jack recommended above. Again a good buy and fits under the Griff, front and back. If you look hard it is in the foreground of the photo.

This is very similar to the Costco one, it weighs a ton but it feels like it could lift a battle tank but best of all it has a very low profile. I've got a feeling the Costco one is a bit cheaper but now we are splitting hairs.

Whilst we are on the subject, Costco do some really well priced axle stands of high quality. When I am back in the UK I will check out the prices

Much of this garage equipment is generic Arcan for example was sold under the Snap- On/Bluepoint banner and cost around another £100 because it was blue and not red rolleyes greedy bds irked this goes on a lot in the motor trade tool side frown

Just be sure to use axle stands.....you should anyway, but sometimes you think "I'll only be a couple of minutes"

Mine suffered total failure and collapsed like a house of cards...
