Quicksilver exhaust for V8 vantage
Discussion
I had SuperSport fitted a month or two ago. I was concerned it might be too loud or drone on the motorway but it's perfect - deeper than stock, quite a bit noisier when you put your foot down but not ridiculously loud at slow speeds that it sounds silly.
I uploaded a video for you but it doesn't really do it justice as I was driving like a bit of a granny in the damp conditions - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GICRF-GFJ8

Sorry to bleat on about this but I see little point in fitting a noisy rear silencer with little or no performance gain. Change the manifolds and cats (Bamford Rose) and retain the standard silencer. That way you get a huge performance gain plus the ability to switch off the noise and run in stealth mode.

It's not for everyone of course - I fully understand your point of view. But some people really love an increase in volume. If so, you are comparing a cost of £1-2k for a new backbox to £4-5k for new manifolds - surely you can see why that solution is better for some ?jonby said:

Totally appreciate Rob's point of view, but I'm in the boat described by Jonby - I wanted a little more volume but am not really bothered about performance gains - the car is quick enough for how I drive anyway. I bought the exhaust with low miles on it from another PH'er who found it too loud in combination with sports cats, so for < £1k I got the result I was after.robgt said:

Rob, the OP is in the USA - no BR there!jonby said:

Take your point Jonby though using your price comparison, to change the manifolds and cats would appear to be something of a bargain. Approx 40BHP gain, more torque, reduced fuel consumption plus a glorious sound combined with an on off switch as opposed to permanent noise and no other gain. Just my opinion of course and I will admit to being a tiny bit biased.

Your idea of a bargain is somewhat different to mine. £5k + VAT + fitting for the system. I see that as very expensive plumbing for nominal gain. A bargain it is not. Value for money it may be, depending on your point of view.
Thank you for all the feedback. Yes I live in the US so have limited options on getting stuff. I wish Bamford Rose had a distributor over here, have not found anything yet and shipping to US would be costly.
I realize that just changing out the exhaust is purely to improve the sound with no noticeable power gains. Like all of us I have a budget but want to get the best results for the least amount of $$$

+1The thing that staggers me the most about this forum is just how much people pay for things from a couple of supplies due to their reputation. And the quality is no different from what I have witnessed first hand.

I agree with that as well. £6k or so for 40 horses is not good value to me either. I'd like more power in my V8V, but not at 150 sheets per pony.snuffy said:

Well thats that sorted then! I still think that to be able to nudge your V8 close to V12 performance for that amount is still a bargain . Should you wish to sell the car sometime in the future there would be a pile of people wishing to purchase the parts so that could be used to offset the initial purchase price. robgt said:
