Seriously, google it smile .

Starter for ten - if the first letter is S it is a GB-built car and if the first letter is W it is Germany-built (the latter from memory redface ) . They all have 17 characters - well, since 1980 anyway...

What do you want to know? smile

Owners' Clubs will have the info you require, I guess? cloud9

Minis have a W chassis number even though made in oxford, so it must be where the manufacturer is officially based not where it was manufactured

D'oh! smile

My 1987 Pug 309 was built from a CKD kit at Ryton, and has an SDB... VIN (therfore UK-built). 'Twas a quarter of a century ago though wink .

Perhaps the (making assumptions redface ) Stalag Oxford-built German car was built in Germany for temporary/unspecified/general reasons unknown? wink Or it could be a Land/Range Rover from a certain era built in Germany on a temporary basis rather than in Canley/wherever?
