Really? I think they're awful.
I think it doesn't really matter. You can't legally not have them, and they have looked like this for 43 years.A point to which I agree and you obviously, do not.

I think that wasn't the point. I don't think we had the beginnings of a revolution here. It was merely stated that they're not very attractive.

Many cars look odd with no numberplates on. Either a vast blank area, a recess or simply because we are accustom to seeing them.A point to which I agree and you obviously, do not.
On that basis, no I don't think the yellow plates are ugly. Maybe slightly large, but much more legible and easier to read than some foreign ones. And to be frank, they way cars are looking today for the most part, the number plate is the least ugly aspect.
For example, the lack of yellow plates hasn't suddenly made these pretty designs.

No, I don't think the rear of cars looks good without a plate (fronts are a different story obviously). I would prefer a more neutral colour i.e. white and black all round. Obviously this would negate the differentiation but yellow doesn't sit well with most cars IMO.The BMW you posted (albeit an ugly beast) looks better with a black and white plate on the back over a yellow and black.
All IMO of course.

I quite like ours; they're a very "clean" look. I liked the plate on the TVR in "Swordfish" in amongst all the US cars for example.
Nothing beats an Italian front plate though - they're about >|< that big
There was a 52 plate E46 330 Sport convertible driving around Vegas when I was there in March, stood out a bit.Nothing beats an Italian front plate though - they're about >|< that big
