I am just looking at sticking some oil in my new C63 and in the handbook it recommends either 5w 40 or 0W 40 oil. I don't have either of these but have quite a lot of 0w 30, 5w 30 and 10w 40. Will it make any difference if I use any of these and does anyone know which would be closest to the recommended ones? Thanks.

Plenty of debate about what brand of oils you can or cannot use but fairly consistent is that the grade should be either 0W-40 or 5W-40. Personally I would not take the chance and depart from either of these. Somewhere in the HB (at least in my version, a 2010 model) there is a web address that lists all the approved oils for MB engines.
If the car is fairly new and/or you already have a relationship with a MB dealer I would just take it back there and have them top it up (usually free of charge).

Thanks car is only a couple of months old, but I'll just buy some of the correct spec oil, shame I can't use the others I already have but there you go...

Halfords were doing 30% off our oil recently. I bought up a 5ltr bottle should i need it for top ups.

If it's a new car, you can go back to the dealer as often as you want for free top ups. I have now done this several times with my new one since September.

Thanks, thats a good price, but just bought some elsewhere! Good idea to go back to the dealer too, but too far from me. Thanks again.

Does it not matter what oil is currently in the car if I top it up with either 0W-40 or 5W-40?
