I've been playing with Windows Live Movie Maker on a Windows 7 PC. The trouble is, I can't find a way of editing the soundtracks to fade into each other neatly. Here's an example:

Have I missed a feature in WLMM?
Better still, can anyone here suggest an inexpensive video editing package that would allow me to produce video and sound that is less clunky?
This is just for fun at home, not commercial use.
Your advice would be much appreciated!

Click on the edit in the tool bar at the top of the screen, then you can change the volume and fade of both your video or the music track depending on which one you have selected.

I thought that set the mix for the whole video rather than let me bring sounds up and down as the video progressed. I'll experiment some more. Thanks!

There's a been a fair bit of discussion about video editing software on the GoPro thread that might be work a look. I rather like Cyberlink PowerDirector as it's easy to use but pretty powerful and you can get it for sensible money. You can download a trial version from Cyberlink that's fully functional but watermarks the video if you want to see if it's worth spending the money on.
