I've been struggling to breathe for about a week and a half or so, even sitting down after no strenuous exercise I was having to take rapid breaths as if I'd been running, I do have asthma and I've had problems with dust mites this year, anti allergy bedding did the trick with that though.
My asthma inhaler has no effect on my breathing and if I am walking around after a short while I start to get tingly finger tips and a numb nose and lips, it's very much like asthma but no wheezing at all, I'm just not getting the oxygen out of the air, it has started to come and go over the last 3 or 4 days so it seems to be clearing but it's worrying.

Doctors have got me to go to hospital to check my heart out but all tests done so far have been fine on blood tests, ECG and blood pressure, the only thing that has changed or is different leading up to this is I had a flu jab, does anyone else know of this sort of thing after getting one?

Sounds like worsening asthma. Tingling in fingers is due to lack of oxygen and is serious. Go to a&e now! Before this gets worse.
You may need a course of steroids and a asthma review.
I have asthma and I know exactly how you feel. Its like someone sat on you chest and you cannot take a deep breath .

Did anybody actually listen to your chest? A friend of mine had similar symptoms and it turned out to be a partially collapsed lung.

Something has triggered your asthma. Could be weather, stress, tiredness or indeed a myriad of things. I personally have serious concerns with inhaler use long term because of the long term downsides, Could be time for a lifestyle reappraisal and a serious consideration of the causes and remedies with your consultant. Your GP may be very helpful but I would be looking a consultants opinions. I would suggest looking at ways to address whatever is causing the asthma to worsen and reacting in the best possible way to minimise this problem. How old are you?

I'm 39, my chest is sounding clear and not even slightly wheezing, when I said I had a tight chest the doctors seemed to latch onto it being a heart problem, thinking I meant chest pain, but no ammount of saying not it's not chest pains seems to dissuade them, I'm into hospital on Monday to see a heart specialist so at least he will hopefully put an end to that but sofar nothing has been done about the breathing other than resuming a steroid inhaler which has done nothing, which leaves me thinking it's not asthma related.
It is slowly clearing, I was ok yesterday walked a decent distance outside where before I would have been dying, I was actually at a routine medical for work, they wouldn't pass me with this being ongoing so it's even more annoying.
